What we aim for

Our target

The website is being built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, with two further goals of our own.

  • WCAG 2.2 Level AA

The widely used international standard for accessible websites is the target for every page.

  • Calm, optional motion

Movement is kept gentle and minimal. It follows your device's reduced-motion setting, and it can be paused.

  • Comfortable targets

Buttons and links aim to be at least 44 by 44 pixels, so they are easier to tap.

Progress so far

What has been done

These are the steps taken while building the site. They are part of the work, not proof that every page is free of problems.

  • Keyboard support

Menus, the contact panel, common questions, and other controls can be reached and used with a keyboard alone.

  • Visible focus

A clear outline shows which link or button is selected when you move through a page with a keyboard.

  • Reduced motion

If your device asks for reduced motion, the site removes movement.

  • Readable colors

Text and background colors were chosen and checked against the contrast levels the guidelines ask for.

  • Clear structure

Pages use headings, landmarks, and a skip link, so screen readers and other tools can move through them in a sensible order.

  • Automated checks

Pages are checked with the axe accessibility testing tool during development. Automated tools find only some kinds of problems.

Known limitations

What is not finished yet

We would rather tell you what is still in progress than claim more than has been checked.

  • Testing with screen-reader users

The site has been checked with automated tools and a keyboard, but it has not yet been tested with people who use screen readers.

  • Other websites

Links to email, social media, maps, or other services lead to websites with their own accessibility, which this site cannot control.

Tell us about a problem

If something on this website is hard to use, please let us know. It helps to mention the page, what you were trying to do, and the device or assistive technology you use.
