What seva means

Service as part of devotion

Bhakti is the path of loving devotion to Krishna. On that path, ordinary work such as cooking, cleaning, singing, or greeting someone at the door can be offered as seva: service done with love, for Krishna and for others.

Helping out can be a natural way to get to know the community. It is always an invitation, never a condition.

You are always welcome to come simply as a guest.

A common question

How can I help?

There are many ways to help: at gatherings, with cooking, welcoming guests, and practical service. Donations are also warmly welcomed and keep everything free for everyone. Get in touch to ask about current needs.

Ways to help

Where help may be needed

There may be opportunities to help in the areas below. Needs change over time, so please ask about current needs before you plan anything.

  • Four musicians in a sunny room decorated with flower garlands: three play mridanga drums and one plays the harmonium, eyes closed in song.

    At gatherings

Setting up before a gathering, tidying afterwards, or helping things run smoothly while people chant and listen.

  • Guests of all ages sit on sofas and on the floor of a sunny room, sharing plates of vegetarian food together.

    Preparing food

Helping in the kitchen with prasadam: food offered to Krishna and then shared. Ask first about who is cooking and when.

  • Four smiling women in colorful saris stand together in front of a backdrop of string lights and embroidered hangings.

    Welcoming guests

Greeting people as they arrive, especially anyone visiting for the first time, and helping them feel at ease.

  • A room full of people raise their arms while chanting before the open altar, led by a devotee in white.

    Practical needs

Everyday tasks that keep a community going, such as cleaning, small repairs, or sharing a skill you already have.

Helping is always optional, and there is no sign-up form on this website. To offer help, simply get in touch.
